Norrlandsflyg was established in 1961 and our exciting journey has brought us from flying tourists in the most remote regions in northern Sweden to what we are today; the largest helicopter company in the country!

Today we have ceased entirely with passenger flights and are instead focusing on different sorts of rescue operations by helicopter. We are the only operator in Sweden certified to perform SAR (Search and Rescue) with helicopter and from our five SAR bases we cover the entire Swedish coastline.

We also fly ambulance transports by helicopter (HEMS) from our bases in Gothenburg and Gällivare.

Norrlandsflyg AB is a Swedish helicopter company who are specialized in time-critical rescue operations. We are today the largest helicopter company in Sweden as well as one of the world’s leading privately owned companies that performs military SAR, Search and Rescue. Today, Norrlandsflyg are responsible for all Swedish SAR with the Swedish Maritime Administration (Sjöfartsverket) as a contractor, as well as civilian and military flight rescue. On five strategically placed bases along the Swedish coastline there is a specially built rescue-helicopter with crew on a 15 minute stand-by, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Beside the SAR operations we also handle the ambulance helicopter services of the Västra Götaland and Norrbotten regions.
